Song of the Week: "Born This Way"

This morning I woke up with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” stuck in my head so I find it only fitting to make it my song of the week. She debuted her music video yesterday and you can watch it below. I’d love to know your thoughts!

Song of the Week: "Four Letter Word"

Last week, I interviewed Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. While researching the band, I read that frontman Lukas Nelson uses Jimi Hendrix’s technique of playing guitar with his teeth.

Extremely intrigued, I made sure to watch their recent Letterman performance to see it firsthand. One of the most energetic television performances I’ve experienced, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real impressed. Seriously, when was the last time you saw someone play guitar with their teeth?

Watch their performance below and stay tuned for my Q&A with the band.

Song of the Week: "Need You Now"

2010 was definitely Lady Antebellum’s year. Lucky for them, the success of their sophomore album and single, “Need You Now” propelled them from country trio to mainstream act. You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the song and it has garnered them five Grammy awards this past Sunday.

I was lucky enough to interview them last year and while researching the band, discovered that “Need You Now” was the most requested song at jukeboxes throughout the country in 2010, beating out Journey’s infamous “Don’t Stop Believing.” No doubt an impressive feat. Watch the video for “Need You Now” below and let me know why you think the song struck such a chord this year.

Song of the Week: "Dancing In the Dark"

I’m always reminded I’m a Jersey girl after spending time with the family. After a trip to New Jersey earlier this week, I haven’t been able to stop listening to Bruce Springsteen. This video of a performance from Barcelona adequately captures his energetic live show. What do you think? Be sure to watch until the very end.

Song of the Week: "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not"

While researching country pickup lines for my recent article, “10 Best Come-On Lyrics in Country Music” for The Boot, a friend suggested Thompson Square’s single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not.” I instantly fell in love with the song and haven’t been able to stop listening since. I don’t think I’ve had a song on repeat this much in years.

Watch the video for it below and if you’re in dire need for some pickup lines for this weekend, check out my writeup on The Boot. I’m planning on trying the cheesy, “Are you from Tennessee?/’Cause baby, you’re the only 10 I see.” I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes…

Song of the Week: "Walking In Memphis"

When reviewing an album this weekend, a track reminded me of Marc Cohn’s moving song “Walking In Memphis.” A powerful ballad, I remember having the song stuck in my head my first visit to Memphis two years ago. After watching the video below, you just might be singing the song all day as well.

Song of the Week: "Enchanted"

I haven’t been able to stop playing this song since I bought Taylor Swift’s album back in November. The light acoustic guitar, her soft vocals, the lyrics. Everything comes together to paint a beautiful picture of the moment you meet that special someone for the first time and the rest of the night you’re up late wondering if they’re dating anyone or if they will even remember you in the morning. I think everyone has felt this at some point in their lives and Taylor once again expresses this universal feeling in her music.

Watch Taylor perform “Enchanted” live below and listen as her fans react to her lyrics.
