Song of the Week: "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

Mariah Carey’s timeless classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is my all time favorite Christmas song. This is the one I never tire of hearing, whether it’s the day after Thanksgiving or the middle of July.

While Justin Bieber and countless other musicians have put their own spin on Carey’s hit, the original will never go out of style.

Song of the Week: "Hundred Days of Snow"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

As the colder weather kicks in and holiday tunes are everywhere, it’s refreshing to hear a new song this season. Dublin-based Steafan Hanvey’s track, “Hundred Days of Snow” is just that: a welcomed addition to our seasonal repertoire.

Compared to Ray Lamontagne and Jeff Buckley, Hanvey’s soothing yet raspy vocals captivate the listener. With delicate guitar and percussion accompaniment, it’s the perfect track to add to your holidays.

Song of the Week: "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

Yesterday, I watched Paul McCartney Live on VH1 Classic and only found it fitting to feature The Beatles this week as my song of the week. While scouring YouTube for my favorite songs by the Liverpool lads, I found this iconic performance from The Ed Sullivan Show. While “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” is one of my personal favorites, watch as the band plays “All My Loving,” “Till Their Was You” and “She Loves You.”

Song of the Week: "Drive All Night"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

Last week, NEEDTOBREATHE released the video for “Drive All Night,” the newest single off their album, The Reckoning. Currently on tour with Taylor Swift, the South Carolina natives have been making a name for themselves with their high energy Southern rock.

Their latest single further proves just why Swift hand-selected them to open up for her every night. With arena friendly choruses, catchy banjo interludes, a driving drum beat and frontman Bear Rinehart’s yearning vocals, “Drive All Night” adequately showcases the band’s staying power.

Watch the video below and be sure to catch them on their headlining tour next year. For complete dates, visit their Web site.

Song of the Week: "Happens Every Day"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

With gritty guitar and a heart-pounding drum and bass beat, “Happens Every Day,” grabs the listener’s attention right away. Frontman Matt Reich’s catchy vocals only continue to add to the song.

The first single and track off Lights Resolve’s debut album, Feel You’re Different, it’s an adequate introduction of what’s to come. Clocking in at nearly three minutes, it’s hard not to have the band’s “oh-oh-oh-oh’s” stuck in your head long after the song is over.

Watch Lights Resolve perform the track live in the studio below. Download “Happens Every Day” for free when you post it on Twitter.

Song of the Week: "Twenty-Four"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

Exactly two years ago I posted this Switchfoot song as my Song of the Week. Just hours before my 25th birthday, the song held great meaning to me. As the years have progressed, his words still ring true.

Of “Twenty-Four,” frontman Jon Foreman said, “I wrote this song near the end of my 24th year on this planet. Wherever we run, wherever the sun finds us when he rises, we remain stuck with ourselves. That can be overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like my soul is polluted with politicians, each with a different point of view. With all 24 of them in disagreement, each voice is yelling to be heard.

“And so I am divided against myself. I feel that I am a hypocrite until I am one, when all of the yelling inside of me dies down. I’ve heard that the truth will set you free. That’s what I’m living for: freedom of spirit. I find unity and peace in none of the diversions that this world offers. But I’ve seen glimpses of truth and that’s where I want to run.”

Watch Foreman perform the track along with some behind the scenes footage from a Switchfoot tour.

Song of the Week: "Hallelujah"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

This song never ceases to move me. Light guitar accompanied by Jeff Buckley’s soft, yet powerful vocals strike a chord. My roommate and I have had “Hallelujah” on repeat all week and I’m still not tired of this track yet. Enjoy!

Song of the Week: "My Bed"
CATEGORIES: Song of the Week

Last night, I caught Daniel Wayne‘s EP release show at The Living Room and was thoroughly impressed. The Cincinnati native has been compared to Jeff Buckley and Roy Orbison, and it’s easy to see why.

Wayne’s emotional singing and personal songwriting grabs the listener effortlessly while the accompanying music brings to mind a mix of rock & roll, alt-country and, at times, hillbilly roots. With bold guitar licks and his wavering vocals, songs like standout “My Bed” left a lasting mark. Additional pedal steel guitar and upright bass only added to his set.

Listen to “My Bed” here. What do you think? Watch Wayne perform “Poseidon’s Drownin’ Son” live in NYC below.

I haven’t been able to get Adele’s current single, “Someone Like You” out of my head for the past week. The beautiful, heartbreaking ballad showcases her powerful vocals while the lyrics strike a chord.  Currently No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, watch below as Adele tells the story behind the song and performs it live in her home.
